About 2 weeks ago my BFF Christy called and asked if I would like to go with her to hear a guest speaker at an event called First Friday. She explained that the guest speaker would be non other than author Lysa TerKuerst! Of course I didn’t know she was an author, but I did know she was associated with Proverbs 31 Ministry because I read the blog and I recognized her name. I would later come to learn that she’s the president of Proverbs 31 Ministries, a writer, a speaker, a Christian, a wife and a mom and I suspect she has a few more hats she wears through out her day. Last Friday though, she was entertaining me and 499 other women at the First Friday event.
It was so fun, she was very humble, sincere and funny. The topic of her message was centered around her book; “Made to Crave” and she left us craving for more of her awesome message about how to bring our desires to make health lifestyle choices to fruition with “no more excuses”.
Of course I bought a book 🙂 …like I need an excuse? and then promptly got in line to meet Lysa and have her sign my books…yes I bought a few more than one. and then I had my picture taken with her! It’s the first time I’ve ever had my picture taken with a celebrity. The first time I’ve ever wanted my picture taken and the first time it actually turned out good enough to post on my blog!
and then Christy and I went to lunch…PF Changs! Yum!!!
I asked Christy (because I think she knows everything) “why is my skin always so red?” I mean look at me, I look like I’m blushing. Maybe I am…I am kind of shy. LOL! But now that I think about it, it’s probably because I was squatting down to get in the photo with Lysa and my legs were shaking. I’m now convinced that baseball catchers have amazing leg muscles and flexible knees. You can’t see how hard I was trying not to fall over, I even laid my hand flat so I would look relaxed…and so I wouldn’t pull the tablecloth off if I did fall.
Now that I know about “First Fridays”, Christy and I will be there every month. I think this is so cool, because I get to spend more time with Christy, listen to amazing Christian speakers and walk around the shops in Southlake. Next month is Lisa Harper…I can’t wait!
I want to remind you about my giveaway for a pound of Furnace Hills Coffee Co. There’s still time to enter and tell your friends. Free coffee, delivered to your door! Oh my…it must be a dream!
peace. love. rust.

I’m a new follower and fellow book club member at Katherine’s Corner. I enjoyed your story. I wish we had a place here with Christian speakers. Our church has some once in a while but not on a regular basis. Red skin can mean you have inflammation, diabetes or lupus. You really need to see a doctor. I hope you have a great week. Doylene
