Creating Your DREAM Decor with Pottery Barn Inspiration

Some people DREAM in black and white

Some people DREAM in color….

I dream in Pottery Barn.

{via Pottery Barn}

I love it…but are you like me?

love it but can’t justify spending that kind a money?

now i will dream about these lamps until i find a way to create my own… in my dream they are CHEAP simple to recreate…once i find the right components.  all in good time.

great things come to those who wait…and stand ready to pounce on a great find.

patience is not only a virtue, it is a necessity in my home as well as having a plan and preparing for it. like having a decorating nest egg for those times when you find that perfect something that you need to help create your dream project.

or maybe you can justify the cost for one special piece of furniture but would prefer a lower cost.  i mean everyone loves a good deep discount….right?

did you know Pottery Barn has 10 outlets throughout the country?

maybe you are fortunate to live near one or don’t mind driving for some bargains. or maybe you are blessed with a creative DIY spirit and you live for finding discarded objects that can be morphed into a PB look alike or better yet you just see what you want and go about making one just like it.

{hop over to Alchemy Junk to see this PB knock off}

while your there check our their PB Roman Numeral Clock project!!!  Wow…it is amazing.

i love a good challenge don’t you?

some things in the PB world are really simple to duplicate

take this cake mold light pendant…REALLY?

like Donna over at Funky Junk Interiors shows in the photo below, there are many found objects that can be altered to fit your decor at a fraction of the cost.

she is always challenging us and proving that you can decorate on a very small budget by thinking outside the box.

and then sometimes it’s as if they are taunting you with simplicity.  now come on, who doesn’t have a mason jar in their kitchen? you can even find those lids at a online craft supply, the rest of the components are easily found at your local hardware store.

and then of course there are always those wonderful treasures just waiting for you to find them at the thrift shops and salvage centers, that can be transformed into something wonderful to give your decor that special one of a kind look like the one vintage crystal chandelier i found one time, caked in mud and very grimy, but you wouldn’t know that today.

{read that about the journey HERE}

dreaming is fun as long as it doesn’t become an obsession.

that can be unhealthy and then you would need an intervention.

🙂  LOL!

What one Pottery Barn item would you love to have in your home?

Have you ever found something in a magazine and set about to make one just like it?

I wanna see!

Have you ever been inspired to do a dream room makeover from a photo in a magazine?

  1. I love the Camillia 6 arm chandelier. Have to have it over my bed! $399.00 I am saving now.

  2. I’m late to the party on this, but it caught my eye. I dream in PB too, but sadly can’t afford a thing. A friend of mine turned me on to http://ana-white.com/ – she has TONS of knock-off PB plans. We’re building the modular desks right now, a regular one for me and a corner unit for my husband. We’re slow though, so it’ll be awhile before we get ’em done. And of course, I’ll put ’em on my blog.

    1. Charity,
      There is nothing wrong with making something that looks like something you can’t afford…It means more to you anyway after you completed the project, you can stand back and say; “I made that”! And look at all of the money you’ve saved!
